Our Church

Calvary Chapel Emanuel had its beginnings as a Spanish language home Bible Study started by Jaime Siman in Santa Ana, California, while he was worshiping at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 1995.

Jaime had studied the Word of God under Chuck Smith, Sr. Pastor and founder of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM) since his arrival to Orange County, California in 1988. In 1994 Jaime joined the Spanish speaking fellowship of CCCM. And in 1995 he began the Spanish home Bible study which quickly began to bear fruit, as several were saved and baptized in the Christian faith.

In January 1996, Jaime felt lead to start a Spanish speaking fellowship in the city of Orange, under the umbrella of Calvary Chapel East Hills, sharing the same facilities. When Calvary Chapel East Hills moved that year to a new location further east of the city, the Spanish fellowship remained in the Hispanic-populated area of Orange, renting the YMCA for its Sunday service.

A couple of years later the fellowship moved its Sunday services to the Community House of Shaffer Park in Orange, CA. Then it moved its Sunday service to Richland High School which offered more space. We currently meet at Portola Middle School which has better facilities, allowing us to conduct larger events, and to meet Sunday mornings, and also midweek on Wednesdays evenings.

Calvary Chapel Emanuel became officially incorporated as a church in the state of California, with Non-Profit status before the IRS and the California State; and as a member of the fellowship of Calvary Chapel churches, in 2003.
